whoislvca is a Dutch artist and designer who completed a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle, followed by a Pre-Master’s programme at the Design Academy Eindhoven. This year, he completed my Master’s degree in Non-Linear Narrative at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK). His practice began with questions about perception: what we notice, how we notice it, and through which senses or media. This led him to explore ecological issues, considering not only how we perceive the natural world, but also how things change when humans and non-human entities are treated as interdependent, rather than hierarchical. Building on this, he further explored what happens to nature when it can be captured, rendered, and reproduced infinitely as data. In his current work, his central concern combines the ecological and digital, and focuses on the difference between biological memory, which forgets, and computational memory, which does not. Built from imaging, generative text and sound, his practice asks viewers to consider what we risk losing when permanence replaces forgetting as the default condition.
